ABOUT HMM
Serving the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Beyond
Hispaniola Mountain Ministries exists to share the gospel of Jesus Christ and to see lives transformed through meaningful partnerships, practical service, and the power of the local church. Since 2005, HMM has been committed to bringing hope and help to the people of Hispaniola—through ministry that meets both physical and spiritual needs.
From the rural mountains of Barahona to the border communities of Anse-a-Pitres—and now reaching into cities like Santiago, as well as new regions in Honduras and Cuba—HMM is actively involved through short-term mission teams, long-term community development, pastor training, and strengthening local churches.
Whether you're looking to serve on a trip, support ongoing ministry, or partner with us as a church or individual, there's a place for you here. Together, we can share the love of Jesus and help communities thrive.

ABOUT HISPANIOLIA

Hispaniola, the second-largest island in the Caribbean is divided between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The island holds a pivotal place in history as the site of the first European settlement in the Americas, established by Christopher Columbus in 1492. Hispaniola became a center for Spanish colonization, later experiencing French control on the western side, leading to the formation of Haiti, the first independent Black republic in 1804.
Hispaniola spans 29,529 square miles, making it smaller than Mississippi, which covers 48,430 square miles, and Tennessee, which covers 42,143 square miles. Despite its smaller size, Hispaniola's population of around 23 million far exceeds Mississippi's 3 million and Tennessee's 7 million, highlighting its much higher population density.
Religiously, the Dominican Republic is about 60% Roman Catholic, with 20% identifying as evangelical Protestant. In Haiti, around 55% are Catholic, but many also practice Vodou. Evangelical Protestants make up about 30% of the population in Haiti, reflecting the island’s complex religious landscape.
